I have never, ever, ever seen a week in Washington that is consistantly this HOT!!! MISERABLE!!!!! AND HUMID!!!!!!!!!!! Haha I think the Lord is preparing us for Haiti...
But really, this is sad. 10:39 P.M. and I'm sure it's still over 85. It reached 98 here today... that's unusual for WA!!!
Oh well! The Lord is good and this weather will pass :)... I hope :)

VBS is over :(
We had the most incredibly amazingly wonderful week of VBS ever this year!!! All the kids seemed to learn, grow, have a wonderful time, and they all wanted to come back next year! In fact, Curtis (one of the little boys) said that VBS goes by too quickly and we should do one that is two weeks long next year. I can't disagree that it goes by too fast... Joe (my cuz) mentioned on Thursday that it felt like Monday was yesterday. And Samantha (one little girl) gave me a big hug the last day and said, "I'm gonna miss you!" I replied that I would miss her too and she said, "Do you wanna come to my place sometime?" TOO cute! Then the twins, Sam and Annie, readily agreed to come back next year. It was a wonderful time.
Anyway, now that it's all over, we should start planning for next year :) But I also have to acknowledge some very important people whom I don't know what I would have done without.
~ Miss Awissa Fung: Thank you so much for your kind spirit, loving nature, phsyco acting skills (meaning that you can act like a crazy person!) and your willingness to speak to the kids about those missionaries. You have a beautiful heart.
~ Miss Anne Rendle: Thank you for being faithful and helpful, for playing the violin exceptionally, for your amazing skills acting out Dan in the skit, and for teaching about some missionaries. It was so wonderful to have you as an another addition to our team! It was sooo wonderful to have you and your sibs and I hope you'll come next year!!!
~ Grandma and Grandpa Doane: Thank you guys for making that awesome elephant for decorations, and for letting us have the VBS that special spot in the back! Grandma Bonnie: thank you for inspiring us that first year to do the VBS. It's turned into a tradition! Grandpa Ken: Thanks so much for making that special clearing for us down there!! Day 2 of VBS... came and went
Wow!! Today was so amazing!! God provided so much and everything went amazingly smoothly! Today was the second day of our Amazon themed 7-C's of the Bible VBS. We had fifteen kids come and five helpers. It was such a huge blessing! All of the kids are sweeties :)
Anyway, sorry I didn't update you yesterday like I said I would. I was too tired! I got up after not sleeping much at 5:50, got ready, set things up for VBS, had breakfast, set up some more and made snacks, had VBS, went to Haley's house, and by the time I got back I was too tired to post anything... But anyway, it was a busy, rewarding, fulfilling, God-given day.

VBS Amazon Expedition tomorrow morning at 9:00!!
Hi all!
Today is the final day before we have the VBS at my grandma Bonnie's and we had one final meeting with Alyssa, Jennine, Haley, and myself. We missed you Anne!!
Anyway, I wanted to ask all of you to please be in prayer this one final day (and all throughout the week) before VBS. I posted some specific requests a few days ago, but here are some again...
~ Please pray that all the families who said that they could come would get here safely and would be able to come every day
~ Please pray that we (helpers and teachers) would have cheerful, joyful, uncomplaining, unenvious spirits and the children would be obedient and kind.
~ Please pray that we would have many children!! (And that if we don't have as many as expected, that I would realize that that is the Lord's will and that He has the best of all possible situations planned out for us.)
~ Please pray that things would go smoothly.
~ Please pray that God would be glorified, for this whole program is first FOR HIM, and only BECAUSE OF HIM.
~ And last, but definitely not least PLEASE PRAY that the children would have tender hearts for God's word, and that any children who do not know Him would grow to love Him and seek His kingdom first!

To die and live for Christ

Still it's so hard to let go..."
This song really encouraged me. It was written after a girl named Cassie Bernall was shot and died because she professed to believe in God. In essence, she DIED for God.
I wonder how many Christians would be willing to die for Christ. But still more than that, I wonder how many Christians are willing to LIVE for Christ. Think about it. Most people who know themselves to be Christians and truly love the Lord would probably die for Him. But often, it's the small, day to day things when we refuse to obey God or stubbornly decide to listen to the world instead of Him, when we don't truly live for Him. And if we don't live for Him, what good is it to die for Him? If we were to die because we profess that we loved Him, yet we were not willing to surrender our lives on earth to Him, what good is it?
I'm not saying that it's not important to be willing to die for Christ. After all, He died for us and we should love Him just as He loved us first. But so often we're consumed with doing the "big things" for God (such as being willing to die for Him) and we forget that we must LIVE for Him as well.
Let us remember the Apostle Paul's words, "More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ"
I pray that I would consider everything a loss compared to the SURPASSING VALUE of knowing Christ.
To live for Him is just as important as to die for Him.

The amazing, all-powerful God loves YOU... So much
The title that I posted this as couldn't be more true. He does love YOU. SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU CAN EVER IMAGINE! It's so strange, because so often I think of His love as just, natural. So often I am not even overwhelmed by it. But think about it. God's love is so perfect, so holy, so righteous, so wonderful that anything we give back to Him can't even compare. How could we not be overwhelmed by this love? Why do we so often ignore it, take it for granted, and fail to proclaim it? Is it because we get used to it? It's an amazing thought to think how much God loved us, and still is loving us. That He should send His only Son, to make a wretch His treasure.
When you think about it.....
God doesn't need us for anything, yet still desires a relationship with us.
YET we need Him for everything, yet so often don't desire to grow closer in our relationship with Him.
Why? Why is this? It's because we forget one simple thing. Well, I take that back. It's not really that simple. Understanding God perfectly can take a life time and still never really completely be acheived. But in essence, I think we sometimes forget how incredibly awesome God is. Think about this for a moment...
"The incredible, Good Creator, the One who created a "very good" world and the One who will restore His creation to the same glory wants a relationship with you.
The Righteous Judge, the One who sentenced the first man to death for his rebellion and the One who came and suffered the sentence of death on behalf of mankind desires a relationship with you.
The Sovereign Savior, the One who provided an ark for Noah and his family and the One who provided the Savior of the world longs for a relationship with you.
The Infinite Sustainer, the One who created time and the One who stepped into time so that He could live as a human yearns for a relationship with you.
The One who confused the languages at Babel and the One before whom people from every tribe, nation, and tongue will bow and worship craves to have a relationship with you.
The Loving Redeemer, the One who killed animals to cover the sin of Adam and Eve and the One who came to bleed on the cross for the sin of mankind... The One who placed a curse on the creation and the One who came to redeem His creation from the curse... The One who promised to send someone to crush the head of the serpent and the One who fulfilled the promise by rising from the dead, conquering the "Last enemy..." did all this so that He could have a relationship with you.

Why does God do this? Because God so loved the world...
And it's true. He did all this so He could know you and love you. If you don't know Him personally now, please accept His free gift. Because, as it says in Romans 10:9, "Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved."

Next week is Vacation Bible School...
Next week is VBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At my Grandma Bonnie's house!! And I am so excited because we have been planning since last summer. Anyway, I have a prayer request for you. Would you all, that is, anyone who is reading this blog, pray that we would have good weather (it's outside) that lots of kids would come and that they would have tender hearts towards God's word, and that the leaders (including myself) would be able to put away any distracting thoughts and be all there, that we would be clear in the way we speak, that we would honor God with our actions and words, and that in all things He may be praised.
MOST OF ALL, please pray that the children would be touched with the amazing power of God and that any of the children who don't know Him would be lead to repentance.

The first day of VBS at FEPC Church... and God is good
Wow that's a long title. But A LOT has happened today!!!!!!!!!!!!! We (Matthew and I) are staying at our Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Ken's house while going to their church's VBS. I am helping and Matthew is participating. Today was the first day and it was soooooo much fun I can't even tell you and I wish that you had been there! You would have loved it. I was helping in the third grade class with my friend Haley, and it is so cool because I helped two years ago (I couldn't last year because we were in California) but anyway this year it is even better because the wonderful teachers treated us helpers much more like adults. I got to lead the memory verse time and during the book time I even had my own group without an adult to help, so it was really fun being like the little teacher instead of just the helper :) Kids are adorable! Well, now we just have to wait for the VBS we're actually running, right Haley? that will be fun.................................................................... oh and also finish this week. haha! I'm excited.
I had better go. Just thought I should report some from the first day at Vacation Bible School.

True beauty: a lesson from four-year-olds
Let's just say that the last few days, I've learned a lesson about what it really means to be beautiful. It all started with a conversation I had with my younger brother Titus...
My four-year-old brother Titus loves girls (even more than boys.) He has crushes alllll the time. So I was asking him what he likes about some of the girls he has crushes on. His answer: they're pretty. And this simple response sent me on a quest to figure out how physical beauty is determined. The rather obvious yet somewhat alarming answer: by the world. Physical beauty is determined by the world's standards. After all, Proverbs 31:30 says, "Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised." So outward beauty is not based on God's laws or commands, but rather on the world's standards. Physical charms are not what God desires, He desires for young ladies and ladies of all ages to fear HIM. So, the world determines what "beauty" means. And we are not to be like the world. 1 Peter 1:16 says, "Be holy, because I am holy." The world holy literally means "set apart." So we are not to be like the world. We are to be set apart for God. I've been thinking about it, and what if every Christian girl wanted to be more like her heavenly Father rather than worrying about what the world thinks of her? 1 Peter 4:11 tells us, "If anyone speaks, let it be as the words of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as of the ability which God gives, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory, and the might forever and ever. Amen." I sometimes worry about what people think of my appearances. But then I realized, it doesn't really matter what people see when they look at me. The only thing that matters is what they see in my heart. If people can honestly look at me and say, "Wow, Jesus has come into that girl and has changed who she is," and if God is glorified in all my words and ministering, then it doesn't matter how pretty people think I am.
I pray that God would replace any desire that I have to be beautiful on the outside with a sincere desire to be more like Him. HE IS MY KING.

I sometimes worry about what people think of my appearances. But then I realized, it doesn't really matter what people see when they look at me. The only thing that matters is what they see in my heart. If people can honestly look at me and say, "Wow, Jesus has come into that girl and has changed who she is," and if God is glorified in all my words and ministering, then it doesn't matter how pretty people think I am.
I pray that God would replace any desire that I have to be beautiful on the outside with a sincere desire to be more like Him. HE IS MY KING.
I pray that instead of worrying about outward appearances like I sometimes do, that I would rather be worried about speaking the very words of God, so that HE should be glorified in EVERYTHING.
